-Foreword-

This time, I would like to introduce my special friend, Samu Tang,
who is an enthusiastic SD GUN-KESHI collector living in Hong Kong.
It is reasonable to assume that many people already know about him due to his custom contributions
to the SD Gundam Complementary Plan Site, ‘MADANGLER’, presided by Mr. MAD.

The fact that he is an art director by profession explains his exquisite craftsmanship.
His outstanding refined sense of taste is recognisable from the exclusive masterpieces on ‘MADANGLER’;
however, a yet more extraordinary item has been created by him!
As it would be hugely regrettable to let the creation be submerged in the cultural underground,
I would like to present this notable creation for a limited period in collaboration with ‘REC★TOYS’.

This item was distributed free (first come first served/extremely limited edition)
to the people who purchased his catalogue at an art show in Hong Kong
in October 2008, without any advance announcement.

The following commentary was provided by Mr. Jadou, the monarch of ‘YAKATA; Trail of Jadou’.
Please peruse his rigorous examination with an expert’s point of view.

-Commentary-

First of all, I would like to talk about the character itself.
MUSHA-BIGZAM is a giant mobile strategic point
appearing in SD MUSHA GUNDAM FU-UN-ROKU (published by ‘KODANSHA’).
In FU-UN-ROKU, BIGZAM was drawn in its true colour,
as opposed to the design of this artwork.
The source of this design can be authenticated in COMIC WORLD
unfolded in the explanatory book of BB SENSHI as well as in CARD DASS.

In COMIC WORLD, it merely appears in 2 episodes (No. 69 and No. 70);
in CARD DASS, there were only 2 types of cards for this character;
obviously, it is not a major persona.
I cannot help raising my hat to SAMU’s sense of design
and daring choice of this character to make it into a solid figure.

I am going to analyse the finest work with the images provided by SAMU.

To begin with, let’s take a look at the panoramic view.
The figures are beyond reproach; unimpeachable.
Seeing that it has a perfect SD frame of MUSHA-BIGZAM,
it is presumed that the base of this outline is from the illustration of CARD DASS.
Although it might be difficult to see in this image, each mould is firmly built; besides,
his eclectic tastes regarding its constructional information are magnificent;
this work perfectly takes over the elaboration of the archetype of GUN-KESHI.

The head, a counterpart of the castle tower, is removable, underneath which you can find a projection.
The shape of this projection fits the concave bottom of GUN-KESHI and enables it to sit on top,
as you can see in the picture.
While creating this MUSHA-BIGZAM, SAMU might have considered it an essential function
to take RYUSHOU and HISHOU on board.

In order to compare size, the BIGZAM GUN-KESHI version
and its full-colour DX version are placed alongside each other.
Its perfect volume can be perceived by holding it in your hand.
The faultless size gives the impression that it was calculated to complement
other traditional GUN-KESHI, like you can see in the picture above.
There, again, he shows his sophisticated sense of taste.

Last but not least, this image shows its dorsal part.
Notwithstanding the past GUN-KESHI products, in which constituents on its back tended
to be omitted due to inconvenience during the manufacturing process
(moulding it into a figure), SAMU paid incredible attention to its details in his magnum opus.
Every single detail of the gun barrels around its waist was sculpted with extra care.

This commentary is solely my own opinion; however,
I am certain that the momentous existence of his work is easily acknowledged from these pictures.
I do not wish to be thought arrogant by voicing my feelings about the technique or effort involved
in this astonishing creation; however, I must say that this work of art was successfully fabricated by the huge
GUN-KESHI aficionado in terms of size, substance (Non-cast) and configuration.

Within the extensive field of GUNDAM, GUN-KESHI is the incomparable series
which has flourished in producing the wide range of three-dimensional forms.
Nevertheless, there are countless characters which were not given
the opportunity to emerge with three-dimensional forms.
I would like to warmly and strongly applaud his sprit through which such a rare character could see the light of day.
I sincerely hope that he will keep creating such masterpieces from now onward; presumably,
I am not alone in dreaming of his continuing production.

-Afterword-

For your information, the monsters, which had not been created in three-dimensional forms
in the POPY ULTRAMAN KAIJU KESHIGOM series, have furtively emerged
in the BANDAI CHOU-TOUSHI series which has a totally different style of production.
Decades have passed since its release, yet I still have great reverence
for the spirit and playfulness of the toys which have given toy maniacs a huge thrill to own,
despite the fact that they were originally produced for children.

The superior sense of taste and quality is beyond that of an independent producer;
I do take my hat off to this creation by SAMU; besides, I deeply respect the essence that his masterworks contain;
they are full of ‘gleefulness’, like Mr. Jadou declared.

“Well done, SAMU!”

I am immensely grateful for the fact that the masterpiece,
created with voracious passion and dedication, is by a non-Japanese.
Equally, we in Japan should compete with each other in further creations!

In conclusion, I would like to dedicate this quote by Mr. Hiroshi Aramata, the scholar and role model;

“Collectors should be voracious!”

In order to show honor to my soul mate, SAMU,
I insert this article with its translation into his commonly used language.
